Sensor Planning with Non-linear Utility Functions

چکیده
Sensor planning is concerned with when to sense and what to sense We study sensor planning in the context of planning objectives that trade o between minimizing the worst case expected and best case plan execution costs Sensor planning with these planning objectives is interesting because they are realistic and the frequency of sensing changes with the plan ning objective more pessimistic decision makers tend to sense more frequently We perform sensor planning by combining one of our techniques for planning with non linear utility functions with an existing sensor planning method The resulting sensor planning method is not only as easy to implement as the sensor planning method that it extends but also almost as e cient We demonstrate empirically how sensor plans change as the planning objective changes using a common testbed for sensor planning

Risk-sensitive planning in partially observable environments
Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) is a popular framework for planning under uncertainty in partially observable domains. Yet, the POMDP model is riskneutral in that it assumes that the agent is maximizing the expected reward of its actions. In contrast, in domains like financial planning, it is often required that the agent decisions are risk-sensitive (maximize the utility o...

متن کاملDesign of Instrumentation Sensor Networks for Non-Linear Dynamic Processes Using Extended Kalman Filter
This paper presents a methodology for design of instrumentation sensor networks in non-linear chemical plants. The method utilizes a robust extended Kalman filter approach to provide an efficient dynamic data reconciliation. A weighted objective function has been introduced to enable the designer to incorporate each individual process variable with its own operational importance. To enhance...
متن کاملProbabilistic planning with non-linear utility functions and worst-case guarantees
Markov Decision Processes are one of the most widely used frameworks to formulate probabilistic planning problems. Since planners are often risk-sensitive in high-stake situations, non-linear utility functions are often introduced to describe their preferences among all possible outcomes. Alternatively, risk-sensitive decision makers often require their plans to satisfy certain worst-case guara...
متن کاملModified homotopy method to solve non-linear integral equations
In this article we decide to define a modified homotopy perturbation for solving non-linear integral equations. Almost, all of the papers that was presented to solve non-linear problems by the homotopy method, they used from two non-linear and linear operators. But we convert a non-linear problem to two suitable non-linear operators also we use from appropriate bases functions such as Legendre ...
